A woman is desperately searching for her missing cat in Johor and has upped the reward to RM5,000 in hopes of bringing it home.
The cat, named ‘Zhaocai’, disappeared on Feb 16 at 6.02am while staying at a friend’s house in Taman Jaya Bakri, Muar.
The owner, who was in China at the time, rushed back to Malaysia on Feb 21 to look for it.
Despite days of searching, putting up posters, and asking around, she found nothing. The search continued in early March, but the cat was still nowhere to be seen.

Cat allegedly spotted, but disappeared again
While some have claimed to have seen ‘Zhaocai’ on Feb 20 at 7am, Feb 21 at 5am, and Feb 22 at 7am respectively, the cat has not been seen again since.
Having returned to China, ‘Zhaocai’s owner is now turning to social media to spread the word in hopes of finding her lost cat.
In a heartfelt post on Xiaohongshu (XHS), the owner said she’s worried about ‘Zhaocai’ surviving on the streets.
Malaysia is hot, and there are wild animals. I hope someone finds him and takes him in temporarily so I can bring him home.
“Zhaocai is more than just a pet to me — it’s family, and I won’t stop looking,” she wrote.
RM5,000 reward for safe return
To get more people to help, she has also increased the reward to RM5,000 from RM2,000.
‘Zhaocai’ is a neutered male British Shorthair, gray in colour, with yellow eyes, a long tail, and a microchip. It weighs around 5kg.
