Have you ever been to the supermarket for grocery shopping and wonder how it all racks up to a hefty bill? The truth is, most essential items aren’t getting any cheaper, and there may be times where we can’t control the urge to splurge on certain products.
Most of the time, we would assume that the price stated on the tag is the correct figure, but what happens if it’s not?
Yesterday (April 7), author Faiz Ibrahim shared how close he was to paying much more than required while shopping at Mydin.
According to his post, he went out shopping with his mother and checked out at the counter after he was done. When he was handed the bill, it amounted to RM890.
This immediately set off warning bells in Fariz, who couldn’t believe what caused him to be charged such an amount.
He mentioned that he would purchase two to three weeks’ worth of groceries to avoid frequenting crowded places due to the pandemic. However, the bill would usually be around RM400 only.
Fariz also claimed that the cashier kept telling him that the total amount was accurate as he had bought numerous items. Despite his misgivings, he still paid the bill.
Wanting to put his doubts to rest, Fariz took a look at the receipt and quickly discovered that he was charged RM400 for a packet of sago seeds instead of RM1.40.
Luckily, he was refunded after he lodging a complaint to the customer service department.
“The conclusion is, please check the receipt after paying. The price tag might register a different price from what it said it should be.”
“It doesn’t matter how other people might think of you. The most important thing is to pay the correct price for the item you buy.”
