True love means sharing everything, even your EPF. And it seems thousands of Malaysian husbands are doing exactly that.
According to NST, Finance Minister and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed in a written parliamentary reply that 158,000 husbands have enrolled in the EPF i-Sayang programme, which allows them to channel 2 per cent of their mandatory monthly employee contribution directly into their wives’ EPF accounts.
Since the initiative kicked off in March 2023, it has recorded RM309.4 million in total transfers as of August 2025.

Help strengthen women’s long-term financial security
Anwar said the scheme was designed to help strengthen women’s long-term financial security, especially for those who may not have consistent EPF contributions of their own.
He added that the government is rolling out more efforts to boost Malaysians’ retirement savings, especially among informal and self-employed workers.
These efforts include raising i-Saraan’s matching incentives, expanding voluntary contribution options and boosting public awareness on retirement planning.
From 1 January 2025, the i-Saraan matching rate will increase to 20 per cent, capped at RM500 a year and RM5,000 over a lifetime. The government will also extend the 50 per cent i-Suri matching incentive for eligible housewives registered under e-Kasih into 2025.
