A local netizen recently took to social media to inquire whether it was normal for him to be charged RM21 for a serving of English breakfast in KL.
For the uninitiated, an English breakfast usually consists of back bacon, sausages ( often pork), eggs (fried, poached or scrambled), fried or grilled tomatoes, fried mushrooms, black pudding, baked beans, and toast or fried bread.
‘Is this RM21 English breakfast normal?’
In the post which was originally posted on Xiaohongshu, the netizen posted a photo of the English breakfast he had ordered at a restaurant near a hotel.

In the photo, the English breakfast consisted of baked beans, two slices of ham, two slices of bread, two slices of cucumber, and a sunny side up egg.
According to him, the restaurant didn’t list down its prices on the menu, leading him to only be aware of his meal’s cost when it was served to him.
Needless to say, he was taken aback by the RM21 price tag and exclaimed in the caption: “Is this me eating breakfast, or the breakfast eating me whole?”
Mixed reactions
On social media, reactions towards the post were mixed, with some slamming the restaurant for charging such an exorbitant price.

Meanwhile, one said the netizen could have saved himself the trouble by cooking the English breakfast himself, adding it wasn’t difficult to do so.

However, not all were sympathetic, with one writing: ‘What’s mindboggling here isn’t the restaurant charging such a high price, but the customer not asking about the price beforehand.’
