Aside from stagnant wages, the other struggle that most Malaysians are currently facing is the cost of living, which has been soaring consistently for years.
A netizen recently took to social media to express his shock over a beverage menu, where a cup of Chinese tea apparently cost a fortune.
‘RM2.60 for Chinese tea?!’
In a post shared to the Facebook group 沙登乜都有 last Sunday (Feb 8), the netizen showed a photo of the beverage menu at an unnamed kopitiam in Serdang.
According to the menu, a cup of Chinese tea cost RM2.60, while a cup of honey lemon chrysanthemum and honey wheat grass were both priced at RM6.90.

The menu left the netizen completely dumbfounded, who commented in the caption:
I was so shocked my balls even dropped to the ground. Looks like I’ve entered a five-star kopitiam in Serdang.”
What netizens had to say
Netizens had plenty to talk about the post and left their thoughts in the comment section.
One said that RM2.60 for Chinese tea was considered “acceptable”, claiming that a kopitiam in Pandan Indah charges RM5.10 for the same beverage.

Another said the OP had the choice to walk away and patronise another stall if he felt prices were too expensive.

One wrote that the public can lodge a complaint with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) for price profiteering.

Meanwhile, one poked fun at the grammatical errors that were littered across the menu.
