Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Rina Harun recently appeared in an ad where she dressed up as a Foodpanda delivery rider to spread Raya cheer to a family.
However, what was supposed to be a heartwarming affair did not go as planned as netizens were largely unamused and heavily criticized Rina on Twitter instead.
In the video, an old lady was shown pining for her children as they were not allowed to gather for Raya celebrations and was concerned that they would miss her homemade ketupat.
Seeing his wife being disheartened, the husband decided to surprise her and arranged a virtual call via Zoom with the children, allowing the family to reunite online.
In addition, the children also delivered some food for their parents through the Foodpanda app.
After a female rider had delivered the food, she revealed herself to be Rina Harun and gave a speech about how distance should not stop people from loving and caring for their family.

The ad has again brought unwanted fame for the beleaguered minister, who was criticized for focusing on trivial matters instead of addressing crucial issues, such as her bankruptcy settlement and helping women and children in the country.
Netizens did not shy away from lambasting the minister, with some calling her Foodpanda ad a “stunt”. Some even said that they would be deleting the app from their mobile phones.
