In the wake of a heartbreaking accident involving students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), a heartfelt move has been made to ease the burden of grieving families.
The recent bus crash along the East-West Highway (JRTB) claimed the lives of 15 UPSI students.
In response, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has officially cancelled the student loans held by all 15 victims.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil shared the news during a press conference, stating that the entire loan amounts have been fully waived.
“PTPTN has cancelled and forgiven the entire loan amount taken by the 15 UPSI students involved,” he said, adding that there will be no repayment issues for any of the affected families.
Government steps in with additional support

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also announced additional financial aid to support the families during this difficult time.
According to Fahmi, the Prime Minister has pledged RM10,000 to each family of the deceased students and RM5,000 to those whose loved ones were injured.
To ensure the victims’ families are not left without support, the Attorney General’s Department has been tasked with looking into the insurance coverage related to the incident.
As the country reels from this devastating loss, these efforts from the government and PTPTN offer some small measure of comfort to the grieving families.
