PETALING JAYA: The Magistrate’s Court has scheduled 16 January next year to revisit a case involving a 14-year-old boy charged with murdering a 16-year-old female student at a school in Bandar Utama, according to Buletin TV3.
The date was fixed by Magistrate Amira Sariaty Zainal after the defence requested more time for the completion of a psychiatric evaluation.
Lawyer Kitson Foong, who represents the teenager, said his client is currently undergoing treatment and assessment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta.
He explained that the upcoming mention is expected to be the final one related to the psychiatric report, which involves interviews with family members, a review of relevant records, and further assessments carried out with support from the investigating officer.
The accused was not present in court today as he remains under psychiatric care.
Those who attended included the deputy public prosecutor, defence lawyers, observing counsel, and representatives from SUHAKAM.
Foong added that his client is responding well to treatment and has shown positive progress so far.
He said the full evaluation process is expected to take about three months.
The prosecution is led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Syed Ahmed Khabir Abdul Rahman.
No plea was recorded, as murder charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The case stems from an incident on 14 October, where the teenager is accused of killing a 16-year-old girl at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.
He is alleged to have committed the act in the girls’ toilet between 9.20am and 9.35am.
