A private island located not far from Langkawi has going viral online after a TikTok video revealed that it was currently up for sale for millions of Ringgit.
The clip was shared by netizen named @tuanfaizul, who posted a 1-minute video showing the lush island bursting with trees and surrounded by clear, emerald waters.
According to the video’s in-text caption, the private island’s name is Pulau Jemurok, which is located in Ayer Hangat, Langkawi. The entire island is 1.695 hectares wide and can be reached with a 5-7 minute ferry ride from the Kubang Badak jetty.
Since its posting, the clip has since garnered over 500,000 views and over 20,000 likes at the time of writing.
Private island near Langkawi up for sale for over RM9mil
In an interview with Sinar Harian, the video’s OP, Faizul Hakimi Affendi, who’s a real estate consultant, confirmed the island being up for sale.
He added that the current selling price is at RM49.50 per square foot, totaling to around RM9,031,190.00.
However, he clarified that it does not involve the entire Pulau Jemurok, but only a portion of it.
There are three private land lots on the island and only part of the island, covering 1.695 hectares, is for sale. The owner wants to sell a portion of the island, which is privately owned land,” he explained.
When asked how the clip went super viral on TikTok, Faizul said that it was due to netizens misunderstanding the actual selling price of the private island.
“Some thought the entire private island was being sold for just RM49.50 and couldn’t believe it could be for real. In reality, it’s being sold for RM49.50 per square foot,” he said.
