A six-months pregnant woman ran nearly 200 meters in high heels to avoid being caught during an immigration raid at Medan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur, on the night of April 17.
According to Kosmo and Sinar Harian, he 38-year-old foreign national, who had been living in Malaysia for three months, panicked when she saw others fleeing and joined them, despite being heavily pregnant.​
After running, she was eventually apprehended by the Immigration Department (JIM) officers.
Upon being caught, she fainted and received medical assistance from paramedics on the scene.​
She explained that her passport was at home and that she ran out of fear when others did. Her husband, an engineer working in Port Klang, had just returned to India to bring their children and mother-in-law to Malaysia.​
Over 500 foreigners suspected of immigration offences
The raid involved 185 officers from various agencies, including JIM Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan, as well as the National Registration Department (JPN).
During the two-hour operation starting at 7:30pm, 749 foreigners were checked, and 506 were suspected of violating immigration laws.​
The majority of those detained were from Bangladesh (165), followed by Nepal (142), Indonesia (109), Myanmar (46), India (25), and Sri Lanka (19).
Offences included lacking identification documents, overstaying, and holding unrecognized cards.​
