PETALING JAYA: A police corporal was arrested after he allegedly kicked a security guard in the stomach at a residence at Taman Sri Manja yesterday (May 10).
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said a senior police officer at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) lodged a report at 9 am yesterday.
“The officer made the report after he saw a video recording of the fight on WhatsApp involving a security guard and a policeman who was on duty at the Petaling Jaya IPD.
“The quarrel began when the victim, a 59-year-old security guard, refused to lift the entrance barrier immediately,” he said.
“As the situation escalated, the suspect, having waited a long time, lost his cool and confronted the victim.”
Mohamad added that the suspect claimed vulgar language was thrown at him by the victim, which angered him and made him kick the latter in the stomach.
Mohamad Fakhrudin said the victim was sent to the University of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) for further treatment.
“The suspect was also said to have threatened the victim by attempting to hit him with a helmet.”
He also added that the suspect has been arrested and that the incident will be investigated under Section 506/323 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt.
“We [the police] will not compromise in taking action against any officer or member who commits crimes against the public.”
