In the northern reaches of the Klang Valley, the Rawang Bypass is a familiar sight to many. However, it’s not often that one stops to consider the unique beauty this stretch of highway can offer from a different perspective.
Recently, a local photographer known as Heartpatrick has brought this spectacular scene into the spotlight through his captivating photographs.

The images taken back in 2021, which showcase the majestic “giant broccolis” of Malaysia, have been shared on Tourism Malaysia’s official Facebook page recently.
These photographs highlight the Rawang Bypass, which is specially designed to preserve the rare Giam Kanching trees found only in the Kanching Forest Reserve in Selangor.
The post, which was published in celebration of Earth Day, quickly caught the attention of netizens, garnering 7.3k reactions, 1.3k shares, and 343 comments to date.
The viral images reveal a seldom-seen beauty of the highway, transforming a regular commute into a journey through nature’s wonders.
Photographer Caught Sight While Hiking
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Patrick shared his unique discovery and how he took the stunning shots.
I caught a sight of the nice colours on the trees when we went hiking at Rawang bypass. So I got curious and flew my drone nearer and noticed those are actually flowers.”

It was when he found out that it is rare for the flowers to bloom only once in many years. Thus, he went back again and captured the sight on a sunny day when it was brighter.
There are actually no trails to get closer to the trees from ground level, I can only rely on my drone to take a closer look, and they’re amazing,” he shared.
“Amazing!”
Netizens were quick to express their awe and appreciation for the natural beauty captured in the photos.

“Really, Malaysia is a rare nature. It’s amazing for their wonderful nature. I think it’s one of the best countries for tourists.”

Another added these trees could be as popular as the sequoia trees in Rosewood, California.

A regular commuter shared their experience of driving over this highway with a beautiful scene.

This exceptional perspective provided by Heartpatrick not only highlights the beauty of Malaysia’s natural landscapes but also reminds us of the scenic marvels that are often overlooked in our daily commutes.
