Perodua Axia Drives Off With RON95 Petrol Pump At Penang Station, Taking The Nozzle Along

Remember to double check!
What was meant to be a routine refuelling stop turned into a tense moment after a dark blue Perodua Axia drove off with a RON95 petrol pump still attached at a petrol station in George Town, Penang.

The incident was shared online by a man who said he was standing behind the petrol pump when it happened.

“I thought it was an earthquake”

According to his account, he had just arrived at the station and was about to refuel when he suddenly heard a loud bang.

At first, I thought it was an earthquake,” he wrote, explaining that the noise was extremely loud and caught him off guard.

He then realised that the petrol pump was being pulled towards him after the car drove off without removing the fuel nozzle. Fortunately, the pump did not collapse completely, and he was not injured.

Remember to double check

A video of the incident shows the petrol pump already pulled out of place, with the driver stopping nearby before returning to speak with station staff.

The man described himself as “unlucky but lucky” for being involved in the incident yet escaping unharmed.

He also jokingly reminded drivers to double check before driving off, urging them not to accidentally take the petrol nozzle along.

The driver was discussing compensation

Speaking to WeirdKaya, he shared that the incident occurred at a Caltex petrol station along Jalan Argyll, George Town, on December 24.

In a follow up update, the man said that the driver involved and petrol station staff were discussing compensation matters.

He also clarified that he had been refuelling at the pump next to it when the incident happened and that this was his first time encountering such a situation.
