A story shared on the Facebook page 八卦部门 has left many Malaysians shocked and speechless.
According to the post, a man from Penang revealed that his girlfriend secretly sold his old Perodua Myvi just so she could buy herself a Chanel handbag.

Car was a family keepsake
The man explained that the car was more than just a vehicle. It was passed down by his elders and had been with the family for over ten years.
Although he owned another car, a Proton Saga, the Myvi held sentimental value and was well maintained.
However, everything changed after he returned from a short business trip.
When he asked about the car’s whereabouts, his girlfriend casually told him, “Oh, I sold it. You still have the Saga right? The old Myvi was just sitting there anyway.”
He was stunned as the car was not even under her name.

Sold through “sambung bayar” for quick cash
What surprised him even more was that she did not sell the car properly through a dealer.
Instead, she used a method called “sambung bayar”, which means handing the car over to someone else to continue paying for it without any official transfer of ownership.
She then proudly told him that this way was faster, and she could immediately use the cash to buy her luxury bag without waiting for dealer paperwork.
To “fit in” with her social circle

The girlfriend explained that she recently joined a new group of friends where everyone owned luxury bags like Chanel, LV, and Dior. Even the cheapest among them had a Miu Miu.
She told him she felt embarrassed showing up without a branded bag and said, “If I do not have a bag like that, I look like a kampung girl every time we go to a cafe.”
To make matters worse, the money from the car sale was not enough to cover the full price of the Chanel.
She asked him to top up the difference because, in her words, “If I look bad in front of my friends, you also look bad right? You can drive a cheap Saga but at least let me carry a nice bag.”

She got her Chanel bag in the end
In the end, she managed to buy the Chanel bag and spent the day dressed up, meeting her friends at cafes, and posting photos on social media.
The man, on the other hand, was left at home driving his old Saga and wondering if the relationship was truly about mutual support or if she was slowly draining everything he had.
What made him feel even more frustrated was that she wrote “Work hard, be your own queen” on her Instagram Story as though she bought the bag with her own money.
He ended his post by saying he did not even dare to imagine what she might sell next.
