Yesterday, we reported about a shocking incident which took place at a popular mall in Penang, where a man fell several floors down before landing at the concourse.
While the man was reported to have survived the fall and was sent to the hospital for head injuries, disturbing details as to what caused the fall have emerged.
Man jumps from 7th floor at Penang mall due to relationship woes
In a press conference held by police today, Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the victim was an Asian-American who had come to Malaysia on Feb 1 and was leaving on Feb 12.

According to the victim’s family, he jumped from a high place after facing challenges in his relationship.
“We have gathered information from the victim’s family but have not yet recorded a statement from the victim himself,” he said.
The victim is reported to be in a stable condition and is receiving treatment at the Penang General Hospital.
Following the fall, scores of photos and videos were shared on social media, where it showed the victim lying on the ground and the mall’s indoor CNY decor sustaining considerable damage.
