An unexpected visitor recently caused a stir at a petrol station in Penang. A spectacled leaf monkey wandered into the premises and ended up quietly sitting in a firefighter’s arms, instantly winning over everyone at the scene.
The Bagian Jermal Fire and Rescue Department received a call about an animal intrusion at a petrol station.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the so called intruder was a spectacled leaf monkey with a surprisingly gentle and calm demeanor.
Monkey found at Shell Station
A video shared by Penang Kini revealed that the incident is believed to have taken place at a Shell petrol station along Jalan Kelawai.
Several firefighters were seen surrounding the monkey while one of them carefully cradled it in his arms.

What stood out was how relaxed the monkey appeared. It did not struggle or show aggression, allowing itself to be held without resistance.
The video caption described the monkey as unbelievably well behaved and jokingly pointed out that the figure being held was not a petrol station customer but the unexpected monkey guest itself.
The post also praised the firefighters for their gentle and professional handling of the situation.
Netizens melt over the monkey’s innocent face
The video quickly made its rounds online. Many netizens were charmed by the monkey’s innocent and quiet appearance, flooding the comment section with remarks about how cute it looked. Some jokingly called it a small leaf monkey pretending to be harmless.

The monkey’s calm behaviour and expressive eyes seemed to steal the hearts of not only the firefighters on site but also thousands watching from their screens.
Amid the playful comments, some netizens shared more serious reminders. They cautioned the public not to judge wild animals solely by their appearance, as they can still pose risks when frightened or stressed.
Others suggested the monkey’s presence in an urban petrol station could be linked to injury, illness, or habitat disruption. Regardless of the reason, they stressed that members of the public should never attempt to approach or handle wild animals themselves.
