We all know Penang is home to many gastronomical delights which has placed it on the world culinary map. Penang has also been recognised for its standings in prestigious world rankings in terms of its urban liveability and tourist attractions.
This time, Penang did the nation proud once again by ranking third in the ’15 Best Islands In The World To Retire On 2021’ list.
According to the list by Travel Awaits, a publication which has been covering overseas retirement trends for more than 40 years, recognized this humble island as one of the best in the world for retirement, after Malta and Mallorca, Spain.
One of the criteria for the list includes “the ability to live a simpler, more peaceful life without breaking the bank”.
In the article, Penang was praised for its local street food and hailed its capital, Georgetown, as a haven for adventurers.
Three other Asian islands were also featured on the list – Bali, Indonesia (#9), Koh Samui, Thailand (#10), and Phu Quoc, Vietnam (#15).
