However, things took a surprising twist when the couple officially returned home months after their families reported their disappearance to the authorities.
Penang couple return home 4 months after they were reported missing
According to a report by China Press, Northeast District Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Lee Swee Sake said Goh Beng Shong and his girlfriend Ng Yin Yin have finally arrived in Penang 4 months after they left for Bangkok.

He added their disappearance had no connection to human trafficking activities and that police have officially closed the case after recording their statements.
Refused to elaborate on 4-month absence
Meanwhile, Goh’s mother told the Chinese daily that ever since her son’s return, he has largely kept to himself regarding his and Ng’s disappearance.
When I asked him what happened, he only said that he and his girlfriend were arrested by local police while transiting from Thailand to Germany.

“While he did not provide any further details, I’m simply relieved that they have returned safely,” she said.
Goh’s mother also thanked those who extended their help in searching for her son throughout the four months he went missing.
