Passengers Can Now Only Bring 2 Power Banks On Batik Air After New Policy Announced

Airline claims it is for safety measures.
Batik Air (Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd) has revised its power bank policy, effective immediately, imposing stricter regulations on how passengers can carry these devices onboard.

Under the updated policy, passengers are permitted to carry a maximum of two power banks, which must remain on their person at all times.

Placing power banks in carry-on baggage is no longer allowed, and they remain strictly prohibited in checked luggage on all Batik Air flights.

Stronger safety measures implemented

According to a statement from the airline today, the new policy aligns with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations on dangerous goods. Power banks brought onboard must not exceed 100 watt-hours (Wh) or 20,000 milliampere-hours (mAh) in capacity.

In response to recent safety concerns, Batik Air has introduced this updated policy to further enhance onboard safety. Additionally, the use of power banks inside the aircraft cabin is strictly prohibited,” the statement read.

The airline also advised passengers to be cautious when carrying auto-magnet charge power banks, as these devices may pose additional safety risks.

To ensure compliance, Batik Air will display safety reminders at check-in counters and reinforce them through boarding announcements and in-flight briefings.

Check-in staff will inspect power banks before boarding to verify that they are in good condition and meet the prescribed watt-hour limits.

Batik Air remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards while providing a seamless travel experience. The airline appreciates passengers’ cooperation in adhering to this updated policy, which aligns with industry best practices for enhanced in-flight safety,” the statement added.
