‘It’s Immoral!’ – PAS Slams Pinkfish Festival For Holding Rave Party Inside KTMB Train

He said the event also tarnished the good name of KTMB.
Pinkfish Festival is facing fierce criticism from PAS info chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari after the former posted photos of the first-ever Pinkfish Express event on its Instagram account.

According to a separate post by Pinkfish Festival, the event, which took place on May 16, was to celebrate its first anniversary and was touted as “Southeast Asia’s first-ever festive train”.

In line with its name ‘Pinkfish Express’, the rave party was held inside a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) train, where invited DJs and partygoers danced the night onboard.

Photos posted on Pinkfish Festival’s Instagram account showed attendees having a good time while dressed in nightclub clothing.

PAS: ‘Immorality on display’

While those who attended the event were full of good vibes, the same couldn’t be said for PAS, where they were left fuming over how the event got approved in the first place.

In a statement by its info chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, he said that the event was against “eastern culture which upholds good manners, modesty and moderate entertainment”.

The culture of entertainment that goes overboard, as seen at the festival on May 16, does not reflect the Rukun Negara and sullies the name of KTMB, which is a historic national asset.

“Whatever excuse is used to justify the programme, such as the generation of money, it remains unacceptable and goes against the philosophy of Malaysia Madani spearheaded by Prime Minister and finance minister Anwar Ibrahim,” he said as quoted by Malaysiakini.

Fadhli added that given the fact that KTMB was a GLC under the Ministry of Finance, the authorities must look into how events that “normalises immorality” are allowed.

“As Malaysia is a diverse community, we must uphold KTMB’s image as well as the practice of moderate entertainment culture that is not ‘scooped’ from Western countries.

“Islam provides comprehensive guidelines to fulfil the desires of people who seek entertainment. Moderation in entertainment is the key to progress,” he said.
