In a significant move highlighting the need for healthier and more culturally sensitive in-flight catering, two Malaysian Members of Parliament have voiced concerns over the snack offerings by Malaysia Airlines (MAS).
Sugary items are unhealthy
During a parliamentary session, YB Langkawi, Mohd Suhaimi of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat, displayed a snack box distributed by MAS, pointing out its unhealthy nature due to a predominance of sugary items.
He advocated for a shift towards more nutritious options, suggesting croissants and egg sandwiches as potential replacements.
Replace Starbucks drink with local product
This issue extends beyond mere nutritional content.
The inclusion of Starbucks beverages in MAS snack boxes has also raised eyebrows, drawing attention to the broader implications of product choices by national carriers.
Dato’ Mumtaz, YB Tumpat of the Islamic Party, urged MAS to consider replacing Starbucks products with local Malaysian offerings.
This issue has previously shared by a netizen on Facebook, where one user implored Malaysia Airlines to stop serving canned Starbucks drinks on flights, citing empathy for the plight of Palestinians and the importance of supporting businesses that demonstrate humanitarian values.
