The body has been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations revealed that the child had been left in the care of his uncle while the parents were at work.

Both were believed to be asleep in the living room at the time.

The uncle only realised the boy was missing when the parents returned and began shouting for him, at which point he noticed the door was open and the child was gone.

Police said the victim was found surrounded by several stray dogs, based on the father’s report.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence involving a child.
