Recently, Cheah Liek Hou made headlines after slamming the Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) over a RM60k reward that was allegedly unpaid for his 2024 Paris Paralympics win.
Two-time Paralympic gold medallist Cheah Liek Hou is facing possible disciplinary action after allegedly calling the Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) a “scammer” on social media over claims of unpaid rewards for his 2024 Paris Paralympics gold medal win.
PCM president Datuk Seri Megat D. Shahriman Zaharudin confirmed during a press conference that a show-cause letter will be sent to Liek Hou, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), and the National Sports Council (NSC).

According to NST, legal action may also follow if necessary.
May face ban
Megat said Cheah could also face a ban after the incident, adding that such actions had serious implications for the council’s reputation and its sponsors.
“If athletes face financial problems, they can contact me, and God willing, I will try to help as much as I can,” he said.
But for the information of the media, I have discussed with the legal team and this individual has accused the PCM of being a scam organisation. This is a slanderous and irresponsible act.
“Such postings also indirectly affect our sponsorships. Sponsors give out of goodwill, and I believe actions like this could even prompt them to seek legal advice to protect their credibility.” he said.

Reviewing next steps
Megat confirmed that PCM is currently in discussion with legal advisors over the next course of action.
“We will send a show-cause letter to BAM. We will also send one to the (Youth and Sports) ministry to review the athlete’s ethical status. Following that, it could lead to a ban.
“For the record, PCM is the sole authority to register athletes for multi-sport events such as the Paralympic Games, Asian Youth Paralympic Games, Asian Para Games and Para Sea Games,” he added.
