Over 200 M’sians Show Up At Ipoh Hospital To Donate Blood For UPSI Crash Victims

Heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they just roll up their sleeves.
After news broke about a UPSI student injured in a bus crash, over 200 Malaysians responded without hesitation.

The nation was left stunned when more than 200 individuals showed up at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Blood Donation Centre in Ipoh.

According to Beautifulnara, the overwhelming response came after a viral social media post appealed for blood donations to help the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) student who had survived the tragic accident in Gerik, Perak.

Patients are stable, but blood supplies still low

At present, all surviving victims from the crash are receiving medical treatment. The initial post that called for urgent blood donations quickly circulated across social media platforms, drawing large crowds to the donation centre.

Videos shared online show the space packed with concerned members of the public, each queuing patiently with hopes of saving lives.

Today (June 11), taking to their Facebook account, Derma Darah Ipoh clarified that the UPSI bus crash victims had already been given enough blood.

However, they noted that the hospital’s blood reserves remain unstable due to the high demand during the festive season.

They also reminded the public that blood donations are still needed beyond this case, urging everyone to keep donating for the wellbeing of all patients.

As they put it, Let’s cultivate the culture of blood donation in our society.”

While the urgency surrounding the UPSI student may have sparked this initial surge in donations, the message remains clear: Malaysia still needs regular donors to ensure hospitals are well-stocked for emergencies.

If anything, this moment has shown how powerful a united community can be—and how a simple act like donating blood could one day save a life.
