Over 104,900 Traffic Summonses Totalling Up To RM7.2mil Settled In Less Than 2 Months Across KL

70% discount ending soon.
If you noticed unusually long queues at traffic police counters recently, you were not imagining it.

According to Kosmo!, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has collected about RM7.2 million in summons payments in Kuala Lumpur alone, after more than 104,900 traffic summonses were settled within roughly two months.

RM7.2 million collected since 1 November

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, the amount was collected from 1 November until yesterday, involving thousands of motorists coming forward to clear their fines.

The sharp increase in turnout is believed to be linked to the 70% traffic summons discount currently being offered, which has prompted many motorists to finally clear their outstanding fines.

With the reduced rates in place, thousands took the opportunity to settle their summonses, contributing to the RM7.2 million collected in Kuala Lumpur within just two months.

Over the past two days alone, around 5,500 people reportedly showed up at payment counters, leading police to open additional counters and tents to manage the crowd more efficiently.

A total of six tents were set up, alongside 19 summons payment counters operating across Kuala Lumpur. Basic amenities like mineral water were also provided for those waiting in line.

Special counters for elderly and OKU

Out of the 19 counters, 11 were opened at JSPT Kuala Lumpur, including three dedicated counters for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (OKU).

The remaining counters were distributed across several districts:

  • Three counters at Sentul District Police Headquarters
  • Two counters at Wangsa Maju
  • Three counters at Dang Wangi

This brings the total number of payment counters across the city to 19.

Police aim for smoother public service

Mohd Zamzuri said the department hopes these efforts will ensure a smoother and more organised experience for members of the public looking to resolve their traffic summonses.

With thousands showing up daily and millions collected in a short span of time, it looks like many motorists are taking the chance to finally clear their fines.
