Residents at a Singapore condominium got an unexpected Christmas surprise when an otter was spotted casually swimming and playing in their swimming pool.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP named Wolfie shared that the incident took place on Dec 24 at around 9pm.
In the short clip, the otter could be seen gliding effortlessly through the pool, appearing completely at home as if it were just another late night swimmer enjoying a quiet dip.

The video quickly gained traction online, racking up over 71,000 likes on Xiaohongshu (XHS), with many netizens amused by how relaxed the otter looked in a human space.
Netizens amused but cautious
While many found the sight adorable, some commenters also urged Wolfie and others not to get too close to the animal.
Several pointed out that although otters look playful, they are still wild animals and can become aggressive if they feel threatened or cornered.
Others joked that the otter probably mistook the pool for a luxury upgrade from its usual waterways.

Singapore’s growing otter population
Singapore is home to multiple families of smooth-coated otter, a species that has made a remarkable comeback over the past decade.
Once rare due to pollution and habitat loss, otters have returned as Singapore’s waterways became cleaner and better connected.
They are often spotted in canals, reservoirs, rivers and coastal areas, and have even been seen wandering into urban spaces such as parks, roads and now, apparently, condominium swimming pools.
