But Pa’din Musa believed otherwise. To him, skateboarding was discipline, culture, and pure expression.
Through sheer grit, he rose to become a two-time X Games Asia Champion, proving Malaysian skaters belonged on the global stage.
“I didn’t wait for the path to be open. I created my own,” he said.
Today, skateparks thrive, pro teams exist, and skateboarding is even an Olympic sport. What was once overlooked is now celebrated.

Renee Tan, The Climber Who Inspired Women To Scale Higher
During the pandemic, Renee Tan discovered climbing and instantly found freedom on the wall.
Climbing was still a niche sport in Malaysia, and women were often told it wasn’t for them.
But Renee chose differently. She fell, chalked up, and climbed again, becoming one of Malaysia’s pioneering female faces of bouldering.
Her persistence inspired countless women and girls to step onto the wall themselves.
Today, gyms across Malaysia are filled with female climbers who once thought the sport was beyond their reach.
Renee didn’t just climb, she also lifted barriers, showing that originality means choosing your own path and rewriting the rules.
Colin Wong, The OG Who Saw Potential Where Others Saw Nothing
Pickleball once drew skepticism, dismissed by many as nothing more than a fleeting trend. In Malaysia, it was almost invisible.
But Colin Wong trusted his vision. Paddle in hand, he built communities, trained athletes, and proved pickleball’s intensity and potential.
“Sometimes originality doesn’t look cool until it changes everything,” he said.
Today, pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide, and Malaysia is quickly catching up. What once felt invisible now attracts new players and future champions.
