A woman has taken to social media to share a terrifying account of how her elderly father was targeted in broad daylight in Klang last Friday (Dec 13).
As a result, her father lost more than RM45,000 and was left deeply shaken by the incident.
Old M’sian man gets followed to his car & robbed in Klang
In a Facebook post shared by Tammy Lim, she wrote that her father, who was in his 70s, drove a blue Proton Iriz to go pay his telco bills between 2pm and 3.30pm.
After making the payment, he made his way back to his parked car when a Chinese man in his 50s with black hair, donning a white shirt and black pants, spoke both Mandarin and English, hopped into the car.

He then told Tammy’s father to drive to a fast food outlet at Jalan Taiping and took the latter’s phone and credit card before fleeing.
In the span of several hours, Tammy’s father suffered a hefty loss of over RM45,000. By a mere stroke of luck, he had coincidentally wound up in front of Tammy’s sister’s office and she immediately helped him to contact the banks and took him to the police station.
Needless to say, the incident has left the entire family worn out and fearful for their safety.
Dad’s in his 70s now, not (technology) savvy and because of his stroke, hard to communicate. He was an easy target and I’d say most elderly (people) are these days” she wrote.

‘Traumistised but safe’
Speaking briefly to WeirdKaya, Tammy said a police report has been lodged over the matter and investigations are currently underway.
When asked about her father’s condition, she said that he was “traumitised, dazed, confused, but thankfully safe.”
Tammy also had a word of advice for those who had elderly parents like her and travelled to the area often.
‘Be vigilant and talk to your elderly parents about their safety. The world has changed and is no longer the same. Your usual routine may seem comfortable and safe, but can quickly turn into a nightmare once targeted.”
