When using public transportation, we’d usually expect that there would be staff nearby to help us until the end of working hours. However, there are times when the opposite happens.
A disabled (OKU) person found himself stranded at the LRT station due to the flap barrier not functioning and didn’t have a single staff member help him out from his predicament.
OKU person gets stuck at Puchong LRT station as staff went home early
In an Instagram reel by @ahyang_sis, it showed him crossing paths with an OKU person who was unable to leave the LRT station as the flap barrier didn’t open up for him.
To make matters worse, there wasn’t a single staff member at the scene to assist him, despite the fact that official working hour ends at 12am.

Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP named AhYang said the incident took place at the Pusat Bandar Puchong LRT station at around 11.25pm, where he noticed the OKU person being left behind when he was exiting the station.
“I then turned back and called the number displayed on a poster at 11.32pm, where the person on the line told me that they had called for staff to come over.
“After waiting until 11.41pm, I called the number again and urged for help to come quickly. An auxiliary policeman eventually turned up at 11.46pm to help the disabled person,” he said.

‘I’m angry over this’
AhYang also told WeirdKaya that in his conversation with the OKU person, he was told by the latter that this wasn’t the first time such incidents had occurred, with the lift even malfunctioning at times.
He also expressed his frustration over the lack of consideration being shown to the disabled community by the LRT station staff.
While I understand everyone wants to go home early, I couldn’t help but to feel angry at how helpless the OKU person was and having no one to assist him.

“I also believe that our public transport system needs to be improved for certain groups of people, most notably the OKU and elderly,” he said.
