Wi-Fi has become a vital part of modern society as it’s a form of technology that enables us to stay connected with others within and beyond borders.
However, it is also the subject of unfounded claims about its purported health risks, as seen in a note pasted at an apartment block in Singapore.
‘Wi-Fi is a form of radiation’
As reported by Shin Min Daily News, a note was found being displayed by an unknown individual across several blocks at the apartment located along Upper Serangoon Road.
According to the note, the author claimed that Wi-Fi posed a serious health risk to users and urged the public to not use it daily.

Wi-Fi is a form of radiation. It is harming our health in silence. You do not need to turn on Wi-Fi 24 hours, turn it off when need ends.
“Don’t live in Wi-Fi radiation all day, everyday! Your life is more important,” the note read.
Residents slam unfounded claims
A female resident named Huang told Shin Min that she came across the note when she left her home to buy groceries at 7am on Sept 4, adding it was pasted on the lift door.
Another resident, Lin, said she saw the same note at 6am but was later removed when she came home at 9am.
She criticised the person who posted the note, remarking that it shouldn’t be done in public places and called the note’s claims as “mindboggling.”
Lin’s sentiments were echoed by many residents, who bashed the person in a group chat for spreading misinformation and putting up notes without prior approval.

A spokesperson for Aljunied-Hougang Town Council told Shin Min an inspection was carried out and that the notes had been removed.
A lawyer told the Chinese daily that it was a potential offense under the Vandalism Act or the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act, where it carries a jail term of up to three years in prison or a fine of up to S$2,000 (approx. RM6,500).
