Recently, a Japanese tourist visiting Kuala Lumpur couldn’t help but express admiration for Malaysia’s cleanliness and greenery in a now-viral video.
I was amazed by Malaysia—there’s no rubbish at all. The roads are so clean,” he said, clearly impressed after walking along a path to a local recreational park in the city.
“Not just beautiful, but clean overall”
In the video, he also described Malaysia as “not just beautiful, but clean overall.”
Despite the scorching heat under the sun, the lush green scenery and well-maintained surroundings made the walk enjoyable for him. The neat rows of trees and tidy streets helped him forget the heat entirely.

He was especially taken aback by how difficult it was to spot even a single piece of rubbish on the ground.
“This place feels perfect to chill on a Saturday,” he added, while soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of the nature park, which was filled with thriving flora and fauna.
Netizens’ reaction
The video has since sparked reactions among Malaysians online.
Many locals felt touched by the compliments, though they humbly admitted there’s still work to be done in achieving consistently high cleanliness standards nationwide.
