Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim addressed the aftermath of the ‘Turun Anwar’ rally, lauding its peaceful turnout but expressing disappointment over the absence of substantive concerns being raised.
Anwar disappointed as no real issues were raised
In a post on his official Facebook account, Anwar extended his thanks to those who participated in the rally, calling it peaceful and noting that designation of dissent was welcome in Malaysia’s democratic space.

The rally was peaceful, and I respect that. I’m always open to feedback and criticism, but I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. No solid issues were brought up.”
He added that aside from the lack of real issues being raised, the rally offered no constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement, only the repeated chant of “bring down Anwar.”
Anwar also reiterated that Malaysia is a democratic nation where a vote of no confidence is a legitimate and constitutional process.

He pointed out that if the opposition truly has the numbers, they should bring the motion to the Dewan Rakyat instead of staging protests.
While acknowledging that his government isn’t perfect, he stressed a readiness to accept criticism and make improvements where needed.
‘There’s ongoing progress’
He also highlighted several recent policy moves, including the reduction of RON95 petrol prices to RM1.99 for Malaysians.

This price drop was made possible through adjustments in the government’s subsidy structure, aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens.
Anwar added that reforms like these take time and must be introduced gradually to ensure the public fully understands and supports the changes.
