A petrol station in Jalan Pasir Pelangi, Johor Bahru, has come under the spotlight after social media posts alleged that several RON95 fuel nozzles were removed because the station had run out of petrol.
However, the Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has stepped in to clarify the situation, stressing that the claims circulating online are misleading.
Leak in underground tank
Johor KPDN director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo revealed that the removal of the nozzles had nothing to do with fuel supply. Instead, it was a precautionary measure following a leak in the station’s main underground tank.

To verify the matter, enforcement officers carried out an inspection at 2pm yesterday after receiving a public complaint that had quickly gone viral on social media.
Through a discussion with the station manager, it was explained that the RON95 nozzles were removed due to a leakage in the main underground tank,” she said.
According to her, a total of eight nozzles had been taken out, specifically at pumps 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 14. A report on this issue had also been submitted to KPDN Putrajaya back in July, reported Berita Harian.
Still enough pumps in operation
While the sight of missing nozzles might have alarmed some customers, Lilis explained that the move was simply to avoid confusion. Without clear information, motorists could have mistakenly believed the station had run out of RON95.

She reassured the public that the station was still able to operate smoothly, as eight other pumps numbers 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15 and 16 remain fully functional. Sales of RON95 petrol are continuing as usual, she added.
The clarification comes after several netizens voiced their frustrations online, with some speculating that the station’s actions were linked to attempts at restricting RON95 usage to Malaysian vehicles only, excluding Singapore-registered cars.
