Following the massive gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) is stepping in to figure out how best to help affected residents rebuild their homes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but we’ll be working closely with all parties involved — including the federal and state governments, Subang Jaya City Council, and Petronas — to provide support for those who lost their homes,” he said.

Victims currently housed at temporary shelters

Nga said victims are currently being housed at two locations — Masjid Nurul Iman in Puchong and a multipurpose hall at Masjid Putra Heights, which has been converted into a temporary evacuation centre.

He noted that rebuilding or repairing the damaged homes will take time, but the ministry is committed to doing whatever it takes to speed things up.

Community and rescue teams praised for quick action

Nga also gave a heartfelt shoutout to the 78 firefighters and volunteers from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) who responded swiftly to the explosion.

He thanked the teams at Masjid Nurul Iman, Masjid Putra Heights, and Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple for opening their doors to victims regardless of race or religion, showcasing the unity and kindness that defines Malaysia MADANI.

The explosion destroyed 78 homes and 10 shop lots, while damaging another 237 homes. So far, 305 people have been affected, with 125 suffering injuries.

PM Anwar had also announced cash aid of:
