Nepal Worker Gets Dragged, Trampled On By Wild Elephant In Kelantan

He was attacked while inspecting fresh elephant footprints.
A Nepalese plantation worker was left with serious injuries but thankfully remained alive after he was attacked by a wild elephant in Kelantan yesterday (Sept 4).

According to NST, the attack occurred at Ladang Metro Blau, Pos Blau at around 5.30pm.

Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the worker was riding his motorcycle back to his workers’ quarters when he noticed fresh elephant footprints and decided to take a look.

Suddenly, a wild elephant appeared and grabbed him with its trunk before dragging him about 100 metres from the scene.

The elephant then trampled on him, causing him to sustain serious injuries,” he said.

Several workers later found the victim and rushed him to the Gua Musang Hospital for treatment. He will be transferred to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu for further treatment.

Sik called upon the public to not make speculations regarding the case and to show respect for the victim’s privacy.
