In a move to support flood victims in Selangor, nearly 200 cars have been made available for borrowing, thanks to the collective effort of several automotive platforms.
This comes after Chery Malaysia first pledged to lend 50 vehicles free of charge for one month to those affected by the disaster.
Lends out 50 vehicles
At a handover ceremony held today, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that 25 of the promised Chery vehicles were officially delivered, with the remaining 25 scheduled for handover on the upcoming Monday.
Expressing his gratitude, Amirudin commended Chery for its generosity and confirmed that the service is entirely free of charge.
Four other platform stepped forward to help
Following Chery’s lead, four other platforms have also stepped forward to help.
Carsome contributed 50 vehicles, Carro offered 30, GoCar committed 20, and EON pledged 62, bringing the total number of cars available to almost 200.
According to State Executive Councillor Wong Siew Ki, flood victims can apply to borrow a vehicle as long as their name appears on the list verified by relevant authorities.
No consideration will be given to the applicant’s income level or the extent of damage to their personal vehicle.
Amirudin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Gombak and the assemblyman for Sungai Tua, shared these updates during a press conference held at the Putra Heights Mosque evacuation centre.
Before speaking to the media, he took the time to engage with displaced residents currently taking shelter at the centre.
