Local rapper Namewee has been remanded for a total of six days by police to facilitate ongoing investigations into the demise of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, who was found dead at a KL hotel last month.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam said that Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, will be remanded until Nov 10.

Currently faces drug charges

Following Hsieh’s death, Namewee was arrested and charged with possessing and using drugs on Oct 22. Nine pills believed to be ecstasy were also seized at the same time.

He was later found to have tested positive for amphetamines, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC.

However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail, with the case set for mention on Dec 18.

Police are now probing into Hsieh’s death as murder after changing its previous classification of sudden death (SDR).

They are also waiting for the post-mortem and toxicology results to determine the cause of Hsieh’s death, reported The Star.

Namewee recently turned himself in to police today, saying he would cooperate fully and denied that he was on the run:
