Malaysia’s ex-PM Najib Razak stirred the social media pot with a playful jab at KFC’s upward trending prices.
On the menu of contention are the steep climbs since the tax transition from GST to SST, with the two-piece chicken meal now costing RM20.99, up from RM12.50 in 2017.
The dinner meal hasn’t escaped the hike either, scaling from RM15.90 to RM25.99.
It’s a move that has patrons squawking over their slimmed-down poultry portions.
“Resize the chicken pieces”
In his Facebook post, Najib suggests a simple recipe for KFC to win back the hearts of the people: resize the chicken pieces to their former glory and dial back prices to what the public deems reasonable.
It’s a suggestion that might just resonate with customers who long for the days of getting more cluck for their buck.
The comments on social media reflect a supportive sentiment towards the call for lower prices.
