Lion dance performances are usually filled with high jumps, rhythmic drum beats and impressive acrobatics.
But one recent performance took things to another level when two lions appeared to switch into what netizens are now calling “helicopter mode”.

Lions spin fearlessly at the top of tall pole
In a viral TikTok video posted by @ctudungsarung, a lion dance troupe can be seen performing an eye catching stunt during a show.
At the centre of attention were a yellow and a pink lion perched on top of tall poles. Instead of simply balancing or hopping between poles, both lions began spinning rapidly in place, almost like helicopter blades.
Despite the height, the performers showed no visible hesitation as they rotated smoothly at the top.
Meanwhile, a green lion at the side continued with its usual dance routine, providing a humorous contrast to the spinning duo above.

Netizens: “Must be Gen Z”
The unexpected stunt quickly amused viewers, with many flooding the comments section with jokes.
One netizen wrote, “Must be Gen Z.”

Another commented, “This year’s Chinese New Year is so random, definitely taken over by Gen Z.”

A third asked, “Don’t they feel dizzy?”

Others joked that the lions were upgrading their moves for the new generation, while some simply expressed amazement at the performers’ balance and bravery.
A rare but entertaining sight
Lion dance performances are known for their athleticism, especially when it comes to pole routines that require strong coordination and trust between performers.
However, seeing two lions spin continuously at such a height is not something you witness every day.
Whether you call it helicopter mode or next level acrobatics, one thing is certain. This performance definitely left a lasting impression on those who watched it.
