M’sians To Enjoy Free Toll For Christmas On Dec 23 & 24

Merry Toll-free Christmas.
Great news for highway users this festive season! The government has announced free tolls nationwide on December 23 and 24, making it easier for Malaysians to travel and celebrate Christmas with their loved ones.

Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi shared that the toll-free period will begin at 12:01 a.m. on December 23 (Monday) and end at 11:59 p.m. on December 24 (Tuesday).

This toll waiver applies exclusively to Class 1 vehicles (private vehicles) and covers all highways—except for the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor.

A RM38 Million Holiday Gift

This initiative comes as part of the government’s efforts to ease the financial burden of travellers during the holiday season.

According to Nanta, the toll-free policy aligns with the “Madani in the Heart, People Are Cared For” theme and is expected to cost the government RM38 million in reimbursements to toll operators.

Plan Ahead for a Hassle-Free Journey

The minister reminded the public to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion during the holidays.

Travellers are encouraged to check real-time traffic updates via the Malaysian Highway Authority’s (LLM) social media platforms, including Facebook, X, and TikTok, or contact the LLM Traffic Management Center at 1-800-88-7752.

Live traffic visuals can also be accessed through CCTV footage on the official website at https://www.llm.gov.my.

Nanta stressed the importance of vehicle safety and ensuring that vehicles are in good condition before embarking on long trips.

Drive Safe, Celebrate Happily

Safety first! Nanta reminded all drivers to follow road signs and Variable Message Systems (VMS). Riders, especially motorcyclists, should exercise extra caution during heavy traffic periods.

“This initiative is a chance for Malaysians to enjoy a stress-free journey and spend quality time with their families. Stay safe and enjoy the holiday season!” Nanta said.
