M’sians Slam Mall Toilets Without Bidets As Unhygienic And Inconvenient

No bidet, no peace.
We all like a dry toilet floor. But when “dry” means “no water hose,” is it still worth the trade?

For many Malaysians, the answer is a firm no, and they’re taking their frustrations online.

After hours of walking around the mall, a toilet break is almost a ritual. Most of us expect it to be clean, comfortable, and, most importantly, equipped with the basics like a water hose or bidet.

But recently, netizens have noticed that many shopping mall toilets are missing just that.

The conversation was sparked by a viral post on Threads from user @mktaufiq4436, who questioned why so many public toilets were removing their bidets.

Many malls are removing bidets because they say it keeps the toilet dry and easier to clean,” he wrote.

But this explanation didn’t sit well with many Malaysians.

He argued that just because a toilet looks dry doesn’t mean it’s actually clean.

“These dry toilets may look clean, but there’s dried pee all over the place. Toilets without bidets need to be cleaned more often,” he pointed out.

“If someone leaves a mess, workers have to be called in to clean. If no one’s available, that toilet becomes unusable.”

This struck a chord with many netizens, who began sharing their own frustrations.

Some said they’d rather deal with a wet toilet that doesn’t stink than one that’s dry but reeks of urine or faeces.

Others noted how difficult it was to clean up properly without a water hose, especially when doing number two.

The online discussion even led to users listing malls they claimed had removed all bidets.

However, according to TRP BM, it turns out many of these toilets still had bidets, just not in the form most Malaysians are used to.

The traditional water hose had been replaced with built-in models attached directly to the toilet bowl.

In one rather amusing case, a squat toilet was seen with a wall-mounted bidet, though it was unclear whether it was an actual bidet or just a detached water pipe.
