A lorry carrying thousands of eggs overturned on the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) early this morning, turning the highway into an impromptu egg hunt as passersby rushed to collect the scattered eggs.
The accident happened at Kilometer 293.8, near the Chukai Toll Plaza exit around 5.30am after the lorry was hit from behind by another truck carrying frozen goods.

No injuries, but plenty of eggs
Luckily, both the 40-year-old driver and his 25-year-old assistant escaped without injuries. However, their cargo of about 78,000 eggs (2,500 trays) didn’t fare as well, with many cracking upon impact.
Despite the early morning crash, some motorists and nearby residents seized the opportunity to collect whatever was salvageable. Some even brought baskets to gather as many eggs as possible.
Speaking to Kosmo!, the assistant, Mohd. Izzat Izzudin confirmed that their company allowed the public to take the eggs since many were already broken.
Viral video sparks ‘egg rush’
One local, 66-year-old Mohd. Ariffin Othman said he and his son rushed to the scene after seeing a viral video of the accident on social media.
I only picked up the eggs after acknowledging the owner’s permission. I’ll be sharing them with my neighbours,” he said.
Though traffic was briefly affected, no injuries were reported, and the incident left many netizens amused by the unexpected “egg-stravaganza” on the highway.
