In times of tragedy, Malaysians never fail to show the power of unity and compassion.
Over RM290,000 has been successfully collected within just four days to support the victims and families affected by the recent UPSI bus crash, thanks to an emergency fundraising effort led by Universiti Utara Malaysia’s Student Representative Council (MPP UUM).
Thousands contribute to emergency fund
The initiative, known as the Tabung Kilat Kemalangan, saw contributions from 18,927 generous individuals across the nation.
According to Harian Metro, the final amount collected when the fund closed at 12pm was a staggering RM290,651.51.

President of MPP UUM, Mohamad Amar Aidid Mohd Zain, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “This is more than just a figure. Behind every ringgit lies a prayer, a tear, and the hope of Malaysians for the victims and their loved ones.”
Funds to be handed over & distributed soon
Mohamad Amar added that the official handover of the funds will take place in the near future, where it will be given to the UPSI Student Council (MPP UPSI) for distribution to the affected families and individuals.
In addition to supporting those involved in the UPSI bus crash, MPP UUM is also planning to extend aid to the families of victims who were travelling in a Perodua Alza that was also caught in the fatal incident.
“May every sen donated become a source of strength and ongoing reward for those mourning their losses,” Mohamad Amar shared.
