Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) is set to embark on several transformative infrastructure projects to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a regional aviation and logistics hub.
As part of the government’s Budget 2026 initiatives, MAHB will oversee the development and upgrading of airports in Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and Miri, with a total investment of RM2.3 billion.
These projects aim to improve regional connectivity, boost tourism, and accommodate increasing passenger and cargo volumes in East Malaysia and key regional cities.
Improving passenger experience At KLIA
Another major initiative under MAHB’s empowerment plan is the Inter-Terminal Transfer Project between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
This long-awaited upgrade will enhance convenience for travelers transferring between terminals, reduce transit times, and support the Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s ambition to become a seamless world-class hub.
MAHB will also collaborate with the Selangor state government to develop the Selangor Aero Park in Sepang, envisioned as a regional logistics and cargo hub.
Once completed, the park is expected to attract global aviation and e-commerce players, reinforcing Malaysia’s competitiveness in the fast-growing logistics and air cargo sectors.
