If you thought customer service at public transport counters could not get any colder, think again. This time, the internet has found a new culprit. A chubby cat.
A viral Threads post recently had Malaysians laughing after a commuter jokingly complained about an “unfriendly staff” stationed at a fare gate at a RapidKL station in Datuk Keramat.
The so called staff in question was not human at all, but a cat calmly parked on top of the ticketing machine, staring at commuters with what many described as a judgemental face.

Say it ruined their mood efore Tapping In
In the original post, the user jokingly asked RapidKL to remind their staff at the counter to smile a little.
He added that even tapping his card felt stressful when faced with that expression, before clarifying that the “staff” was spotted at the Datuk Keramat station.
Photos attached showed the cat sitting right on top of the fare gate, paws resting near the scanner, as if it was personally approving or rejecting every passenger.

Naturally, Malaysians did not waste time turning the comments section into a full comedy club.
Some joked that the meow staff was still maintaining its position hours later, while others claimed it was on double shift duty after its colleague went on leave.

One commenter joked that the cat had run out of annual leave and was forced to work overtime, including night shift for New Year.

Another sarcastically asked commuters to be patient, saying the cat had not even gotten its break yet.

Despite the “complaints”, most netizens admitted they were more tempted to pet the cat than tap their card.
While some joked about losing their mood, many agreed that this might be the most memorable RapidKL staff they had ever encountered.
