Some Malaysians are expressing relief after discovering that nutritional milk powder supplements are reportedly now classified as essential items under the MyKasih programme.
This come after a netizen shared a photo on Threads showing the product on a supermarket shelf with a MyKasih tag attached, suggesting it can be purchased using MyKasih aid credits.
The OP explained that many people often mistake such products as regular milk, when in reality they are oral nutritional supplements commonly used for medical nutrition support.

These supplements are often recommended for people who need extra nutrition, including elderly individuals, patients recovering from illness, or those with difficulty maintaining their nutritional intake through regular meals.
M’sians say the cost can be very high
The post quickly gained attention online, with many netizens sharing their own experiences purchasing similar nutritional supplements for family members.
Several commenters said the products can be quite expensive, especially when they have to be bought regularly.
One user recalled spending over RM500 per month on nutritional milk powder for their late father.

Another netizen shared a similar experience, saying the cost used to reach almost RM400 every two weeks.

While many welcomed the move, some netizens also suggested that other specialised nutritional formulas should also be considered under the programme.
They pointed out that different patients require different formulas depending on their health conditions, and including more options could benefit those with specific dietary needs.
