In early January, a migrant worker experienced a severe car accident in Singapore, leading to a challenging situation due to the high medical costs.
The individual, identified as Mohd Izwan Yusof, faced difficulties covering his hospital bills at Singapore’s Changi General Hospital.
With medical expenses soaring, Izwan expressed a wish to be transferred to a hospital in Johor Bahru for further treatment.
A Facebook post by Farizatul Firdaus on February 14th highlighted Izwan’s plight.
Despite working hard in Singapore to earn a living, the accident near Pasir Ris has left him in a predicament, struggling with the hospital’s hefty fees.
Initiated fundraising online
Firdaus initiated a fundraising effort to help alleviate Izwan’s financial strain.
Discussions with Izwan’s employer regarding the medical bills have been ongoing, but over a month has passed without resolution.
According to the hospital bill shared by Firdaus, Izwan is required to pay a total of SGD 4,653.95 (approximately MYR 16,411), a sum he is currently unable to afford without his employer’s intervention.
