A Malaysian worker has taken to social media to vent about his boss who insists on calling staff at odd hours, including as early as 4am.
The man said his boss has an unusual habit of staying awake all night and becoming most active when everyone else is asleep.
Unfortunately for the staff, this means being disturbed outside of working hours.
Boss expects staff to answer calls regardless of the time
According to mStar, the worker said many colleagues already avoid picking up the boss’ calls. Despite that, the boss recently messaged everyone to question why his calls were ignored.
The worker wrote, “What is this calling at 4am? He does not sleep at night and that is why he calls at 4am.”
He also shared screenshots of their WhatsApp chat, including two missed calls at 4.22am.
The boss asked, “Why did you not answer my call? I do not care what time it is. If I call, it means there is something important.”
The worker replied, “Next time, try calling at 4pm boss. InshaAllah I will answer.”
The worker went on to describe several strange decisions the boss has made.
He claimed the boss once instructed the HR department to issue a formal announcement restricting the use of garbage bags.
This came after an intern changed the trash bag before the bin was full.
Staff were also accused of stealing instant coffee when the supply ran out within a week, even though the coffee was shared among more than 30 employees.
Quitting not an option
While many commenters suggested he simply resign, the man said he cannot do so because of personal circumstances.
He explained that he lives in a small town where job opportunities are scarce. He also needs to care for his parents and take them to the hospital regularly.
My workplace allows leave but they deduct my salary,” he added.
