Thermos flasks were a popular must-have item last year, but one Malaysian woman experienced a shocking incident involving one.
Her car’s windscreen was shattered after her thermos flask, filled with watermelon juice, unexpectedly exploded.

The incident was shared on TikTok by the user @pinky_lollipops, where she posted a video showcasing the damage.
The video reveals a circular crack on her car’s windscreen, with shattered glass scattered across the passenger seat.
In the comment section, the woman explained that the explosion was not due to hot water but fermented watermelon juice that had been left in the thermos flask.
It wasn’t hot water. It was watermelon juice that had spoiled. It produced gas, and since the car was parked under the hot sun, the gas particles became even more aggressive, causing the explosion.”
The video has since garnered over 900,000 views and more than 200 comments from the netizens.
“I’ve experienced this before. That time, I forgot to wash the bottle. It had iced tea in it, but it had gone bad. The car was parked under the hot sun, and when I opened the car, it had exploded. Luckily, it didn’t hit the windscreen.”

“That bottle is really something. If it gets too hot… I once put hot water in it, and when I opened the lid, it kind of ‘mini-exploded’”

“I’ve fallen victim too, I filled it with Milo. Luckily, I opened it near the kitchen. Felt like it was spinning when it exploded.”
