First dates are usually nerve-wracking, but imagine having your entire family tagging along.
While this might sound like a nightmare to some, one Malaysian woman’s first date took an unexpectedly wholesome turn when her family decided to join in – and the internet loved it.
Family joins daughter’s first date
Recently, a viral video shared on social media captured a Malaysian family accompanying their daughter on her very first date with her boyfriend.
The video, posted by her sister on her TikTok account, @TT/__cikyan, showcased just how involved their strict parents were in ensuring everything went smoothly.
In the first clip, the parents were seen sitting behind their daughter, who was in the front seat, seemingly excited and ready for the outing.

The second clip showed the sister and her boyfriend sitting at a separate table at a mamak restaurant, looking at the menu while the parents, along with the sister and her husband, sat at another table, casually enjoying their meal.

Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the OP shared an interesting detail – her sister’s boyfriend was actually her best friend, but the two had never met in person before.
My parents decided to follow them on their first date. Many people have asked why they didn’t sit together, but the table only accommodated four people, so I asked them to sit at a different table,” she explained.
A wholesome ending
Despite their strict nature, the OP reassured netizens that her parents had taken a liking to her sister’s boyfriend and treated him well.
After finishing their meal, the boyfriend even took the family to a shopping mall to spend time together before dropping them back home.
However, only the parents continued to follow the couple after the meal, making it a unique yet heartwarming first date experience.
